Hello there,
It seems like what used to be my regular monthly posting is now occurring every 4 or 5 or 6 months. I guess, at 86, I am slowing down. I’d love to hear from any readers who are still around and choose to say “hello”.
My energies are drifting to more naps, and, I just let go of facilitating our local writing group after 6 years of weekly meetings . The goal of the individuals in this group was primarily to capture their own life stories to share with their children. Our week after week of discipline allowed them to do just that. Members became a close knit group enjoying each other’s stories, which often served to remind each one of us of our own youth 80 years ago.
However, several have moved on to different lodgings. Since new leadership is available here at Providence Place, the group will morph, as it should, for folks with different goals.
An ongoing back pain erupted in May and put me in the emergency room 4 times, finally transferring me to a rehab facility for two weeks. My luck was that the facility, Mary’s Meadow, is a walk away from Providence Place and run by the Sisters. I understand that it is one of the most innovative and healing rehab sites in the US. I had a good rest.
The experience of being temporarily incapacitated was new to me, as were the ambulances, the emergency rooms, and the rehab center. Fortunately my health care proxy jumped in to help out. What I learned will help me avoid this In the future.
Now able and eager to move forward, I am reviewing hundreds of blogs capturing my own later life journey as I Encounter Age…without a Map.
